				I've just installed MQ V5.2 CSD1 onto a Win2000 (SP2)

machine, and also installed MQSI V2.0.1 CSD1.

When I start the broker, I get this error message :

'C:>mqsistart MQSIBK1

The XML Parser environment is incorrectly set up, preventing it from

finding its text transcoding files. Normally these will be located

via the ICU_DATA environment variable, or located relative to the

XML4C2 DLL (or SharedLib.) Please check your installation'

I cannot find the env var ICU_DATA, or the XML4C2.DLL.

Any ideas anyone?

Regards ... Ruud |

				| I have found reference to other customers suffering from this problem. It would appear that it has been formally fixed in MQSI V2.0.2 now generally available. As a short term fix, it would appear that the variable ICU_DATA does indeed exist in your environment. Please check that the variable is NOT anywhere in the system, especially in the system variables. Go to settings->control panel and bring up the environment variables by going to the "System" icon and then the advanced tab and clicking on environment variables. Make 110% sure it isn't anywhere. If it is, make a note of what it was and delete it (or rename the variable to TEST_ICU_DATA). Reboot if needed. |

Ok ... better answer ... the following is an IBM APAR - IC29184

  ERROR DESCRIPTION:

After installing CSD1 for MQSI 2.01 mqsiformatlog command fails

with the following error message :

The XML Parser environment is incorrectly set up, preventing

it from finding its text transcoding files. Normally these will

be located via the ICU_DATA environment variable, or located

relative to the XML4C2 DLL (or SharedLib.) Please check your

  installation.

  LOCAL FIX:

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:

A shared NLS related resource created by MQSi under one user

account, was not accessible to parts of MQSi running under

another user account, unless that account had at least the same

authority as the one which originally loaded the resource.

  .

The following error was then produced during attempts to execute

  command line utilities:

  .

The XML Parser environment is incorrectly set up, preventing

it from finding its text transcoding files. Normally these

will be located via the ICU_DATA environment variable, or

located relative to the XML4C2 DLL (or SharedLib.) Please check

  your installation.

Looking at the fixlist for CSD2 for MQSI V2.0.1, I find:

IC29184 - XML-PARSE ENVIRONMENT INCORRECT

was part of that. I have a strong hunch that you should download and install CSD 2.

Kolban - thanks a lot. I've worked in support for many years, but I didn't look at the support site!

I'll apply it this morning, and let you know the result.

Cheers ... Ruud |

CSD2 fixed the problem - thanks again.

I did have a secondary problem to do with my CLASSPATH. MA88 did not do it, and I had to do it manually.

Anyway, it's all working now.
