				Hi All,

Just wanted to know whether can we change the default location of '/var/mqsi' folder while installing MB6.1.

I know we can create a soft link with /var/mqsi to make it point to some other location. But what I am looking for is whether we can change the location of there the data is going to go from /var/mqsi to come other location.

I hope you got what i m looking for.

Regards,

No.

You can symlink /var/mqsi as you say, and you can mount /var/mqsi as you will.

AFAIK you can't get WMB to use a different path (e.g. /var/someplace) but what would that ability (if it existed) gain you over the other methods?

Requirements please, that we can suggest alternatives. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks Vitor for your reply ...

Well what has happened is ...

We had MBv5 installed on our server and it was using '/var/mqsi' location.

I installed MBv6.1, obviously on a different '/opt' location other than MBv5 with the intent of coexsistance.

But what happened is MBv6.1 is also using '/var/mqsi' location, which I assumed (which i should not have) would be created in some folder like /var/mqsi/6.1 just like the /opt directory structure.

Now am not sure what will happen if I have to uninstall MBv5 ????

So thought that next time when I install MB6.1 on another server might move the /var/mqsi location to some other location.

Well as of now the options that I am exploring is:

Take the backup of '/var/mqsi' folder and uninstall MB5. Then copy the MB6.1 folders back into the /var/mqsi location. The folders which MB6.1 requires are mentioned in the info center so that should not if a problem (as far as now .. )

Let me know if this looks ok.

Also all kind of suggestions are welcomed.

Another thing that struck my mind is ...

We can do a co-existance of MBv5 and MBv6.1.

Now upon doing this co-existance, both the versions of MB will be using '/var/mqsi' location.

Now when we plan to uninstall verison 5. How will it affect the '/var/mqsi' folder.

I am saying this because i see that there are two folder called 'odbc' and 'registry' which is used by both the versions of MB.

I hope it does not delete these folders.

Anyways before I uninstall version 5 i am surely going to take a backup of '/var/mqsi' location, so that I can restore any of the files or folders that go missing once the uninstall is done.

Would like to know your thoughts on the same.
