Hi there folks. I've been searching the forums but didn't get any good hits for my question.

Firstly, I'm a WMQ system administrator from way back specializing on OS/390 and MQ 1.3/2.1. I also worked on AIX, Tandem, and Windows just as MQ v5 was coming available.

There is an opportunity (full-speed train) for me to get back into the hands-on with Solaris. I'm not a Unix sysadmin but have worked with AIX since AIX/PS2 days and would ask for some advice.

Are there any Solaris-specific differences regarding admin and support that would require that I get some training?

Thoughts?

If you've done admin & support on AIX or Windows there's nothing on Solaris which will surprise you. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

read the quick beginings guide for MQ on Solaris once or twice, compare it to the AIX one and you'll be good to go _________________ Peter Potkay

IBM WMQ and AIX both are from IBM labs...

So you can think of the stability and robustness here.

				| Tweaking kernel params (and getting the system rebooted) is a bit of a pain in Solaris, with AIX it's a lot easier. |
