I have a queue manager running on a Windows box and following a disk defrag I started getting FDC files with probe id entry XC371020. The first entry in the event log was:

An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred (Subpool Server 1 pid[3396] has terminated while

application connected.) MQ detected an unexpected error when calling the operating system.

The MQ error recording routine has been called. Use the standard facilities supplied with your

system to record the problem identifier, and to save the generated output files.

Contact your IBM support center. Do not discard these files until the problem has been resolved.

Other entries have been;

An error has been detected, and the MQ error recording routine has been called. Details of the error have been stored at C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\errors\AMQ03712.0.FDC.

A synopsis is given in the data section below. Use the standard facilities supplied with your

system to record the problem identifier, and to save the generated output files.

Contact your IBM support center.

Do not discard these files until the problem has been resolved.

A check on the IBM site suggests this can happen when application queue contain more than 300,000 persistent messages. My environment has no way near this number of messages. Any ideas? |

				| Definitely raise this with Support. And ask them whether the 300,000 messages point is correct - I personally doubt it. |

Can you post the AMQ03712.0.FDC file?

Another option is that the defrag "tempered" with the queue data file, and damaged it. It happened to me in the past once on a queue which help about 10,000 persistent messages.

Have you tried to rebuild the queue file using rcrmqobj? |

It's unlikely that a defrag routine would damage a file. If that was likely, it would be widely known.

It is much more likely that this XC371020 FDC is one of many FDCs written because the disk appeared very unresponsive. An interesting thing to post would be the output from the ffstsummary program - run it while current directory is the errors directory.

And it is still worth getting this looked at by Support, IMHO. |

				| I should have added that this queue manager is connected to the Configuration Manager of the Message Broker and that this problem was preceeded by a problem with starting the Config Manager. There is also a User Name Server in the Broker domain. |

As a last resort, I did reboot the hosting machine and this seemed to resolve the problem, albeit an unsatisfactory way to solve the problem.

I thought that was the normal resolution for a Windows Server. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |
