No. If the schema is bad then it will throw errors.
A good schema that is very large might take a lot of CPU, though.

1. We spent a lot of time convincing you to upgrade to v9.0.0.4. You haven't told us whether the deploy times improved after the upgrade.

2. I bet your message flow does not do anything interesting with the column names ( after all, they are the same every time, right?). So why not model the header line as a single string. That way, your DFDL model will have 601 elements instead of 1200.

3. 1200 elements is not a huge model. Are you running on old / slow hardware? Have you provided enough memory to the JVM in the execution group? ( the compilers for xsds and DFDL are both implemented in Java )
