| simple fail and recovery of a queue manager |
1. have WMQ software cds so you can reinstall WMQ base software
2. have crtmqm command that you used to create the qmgr documented so you can create a new qmgr with the same attributes
3. have object definitions (saveqmgr program - support pac ms03, I believe) so you can recreate all the objects
Pretty simple.
But what about messages that may have been in queues? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

In 30 seconds? (H.A. solution)
Or 30 days? (order a new server, build from scratch, any messages in queues are gone) _________________ Peter Potkay

HA might appear simple to the untrained observer when it fails over, but HA implementation isn't simple.
There I go again taking the original post literally. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Or with v6, backup queue managers, depending on level of failure of course - maybe two strategies depending on level of failure?
So many options. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Definitions of simple on the Web:
having few parts; not complex or complicated or involved; "a simple problem"; "simple mechanisms"; "a simple design"; "a simple substance"
elementary: easy and not involved or complicated; "an elementary problem in statistics"; "elementary, my dear Watson"; "a simple game"; "found an uncomplicated solution to the problem"
And two more:
childlike: exhibiting childlike simplicity and credulity; "childlike trust"; "dewy-eyed innocence"; "listened in round-eyed wonder"
dim-witted: lacking mental capacity and devoid of subtlety _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

H.A. sure isn't simple to implement. But its very simple in action compared to rebuilding the MQ server manually.
I guess "gimmie something simple" depends on who's asking! _________________ Peter Potkay
