Looking at the install files just now, I think this is right, I can't find any sub package of the sample files. Bit of a pain, but it looks like the uninstall\ reinstall option. |

I would concurr with Jeff. I believe the samples like Java need to be specified as options if you want to do the full install.

I would certainly concur that they need to be selected as part of the installation process or they're not installed.
My point is once the mqm package has been registered as installed (with whatever features you've selected), attempting to re-run it to change the selected options fails.
But I could be wrong. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Yes, but the components are implemented as classes within the package, the menu that you use to select which options you wish to install is a request script which provides a list of classes to the installation. You can see which classes are installed using the command 'pkgparam mqm CLASSES'. You should be able to re-run the installation and just select the 'Sample programs' option.
If you are doing a silent install then the list of classes is provided by the response file. _________________ Philip Morten

Again I learn, and thank you! _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I have now finally reinstalled, and have all the sample files available.
When I run the make -f xaswit.mak command, I can only get it to create the oraswit files if I edit the xaswit.mak and remove the -mt and -xarch parameters, but it does cereat the switch file in both /var/mqm/exits, and /var/mqm/exits64. I've included what I think is the correct stanza in the qm.ini file, but when I try to start the queue manager I get a 'XA resource initialisation failure' message, and a
'ld.so.1:
amqzxma0_nd: fatal: /var/mqm/exits64//oraswit: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32'
error in the logs. I'm assuming that this is because this switch file is created in 32 bit mode, not 64 bit. Is there a way of forcing a compile in 64 bit mode, or is it more likely to be a problem with the users' environment variables, or something else? Apologies if you think this is more a Unix question, but I wouldn't even know where to start asking for advice there. |

That's what the xarch parameter does, however I note that the values in the makefile are deprecated by Sun and it is now recommended to use the scheme described in http://blogs.sun.com/solarisdev/entry/new_features_in_sun_studio _________________ Philip Morten

That seems to have worked (created the switch files, queue manager started fine). Thanks very much for the link. |
