Hey Jeff,

you asked a Question? !!!!!!

I use .tst extension (don't know whats the full form of it)

what i think is, it cant able to edit at first shot, we have to do open with

if we use .txt, any one can open and do some manipulations to it.

.tst will take a bit to open. will help us to keep it secured.

am honoured by sending one reply to u

regards

Clearly there are some fairly unimaginative hackers out there.....

A file containing text based information, secured by changing the extension to .tst?

I'm missing something. Possibly the point.

I don't believe he meant to say the file was more secure. I believe he meant to say it was more fool proof. But then we all know we're just a bunch of educated fools...

Typically I've used .tst - I *think* this is a hangover from the MQ test team in Hursley who I believe used this extension for their testing.

I have also used .mqsc though ...

IBM uses .MQSC (MQJMS_PSQ.mqsc in my <<mqm>>\Java\bin)
saveqmgr uses .MQS and .AUT if called with -F
We use .MQS & .AUT because we save all qmgrs using saveqmgr -F every night and subversion control them.

All,

Lets think about what Jeff does.

- He now works for IBM as a consultant for MQ and broker

- He has written 2 SupportPacs: MS03 (saveqmgr) and MA7K (Windows trigger service)

- He has lots of PCF experience (off-line conversations)

- He knows Windows and Unix very well.

- He actually likes MQ Explorer v6 (compared to MQ Explorer v5.3)

- He can code well in C and Java.

- He is a computer geek

So, his question is about a file extension name for MQSC files; therefore thoughts are:

1) Maybe he is creating a new SupportPac for a stand-alone program or scripts to insert MQSC files into CVS or SVN repository.

2) Since he knows Java, maybe he is writing an MQ Explorer plugin that provides similar functionality as MS03 but from MQ Explorer.

3) Maybe he is writing a tool to convert / translate '.binding' files to queue definitions in a MQSC file.

4) Maybe he is writing a tool to convert / translate broker (pub/sub) info to queue definitions in a MQSC file.

That's my 2 cents.

Regards,
Roger Lacroix
