Whilst it is possible to name the channel anything you want to and transfer messages it is still not a good design to have identically named queue managers in the same network and even more so when they are connected to a common queue manager.

Frankly I am amazed that an IBM specialist wouldn't know that channel names can be anything you want (within the usual MQ naming limitations). You could call one 'cat' and the one 'dog' if you really wanted....but not at my shop

Hi Kelvin,
To be fair to the IBM IT/specialist who helped me alot in this case. He is not the MQ administrator person. He is the heavy weight MQ developer. He has helped me many times in the past with WMQ API and WMQWF API coding and I believe he has tried to help me even beyond his normal responsibilities. ...and I am not the MQ admin either. My MQ admin is on vac so I am just helping out and I appreciate your help and comment

Two identically named queue managers tied together with aliases will be a nice surprise for him when he gets back.

I like the above statement. It should be incorporated into the 'I/T Bible framework'. But 1st it has to pass the I/T Bible canonization process that was created by the Project Management Process Committe
Have a good day
