Hi guys,

What would be the biggest pros and cons to switch from BlockIP to CHLAUTH?

BlockIP2 has been stopped developed in 2015 if I am not mistaken. Most of the BlockIP2 fuctionality has been implemented into CHLAUTH which is part of IBM MQ product and therefore we may expect all bugs fixed and new featuress implemented with new MQ versions. We do not need to worry abt BlockIP config files. One typo in BlockIP config and we have a problem with all connections.

But maybe someone has a good arguments for using BlockIP2 too?

This article Comparing BlockIP2 with Channel Authentication Records for WebSphere MQ Security contains a good comparison table at the end.

N.B. Was written a while back and the original link no longer works, but the Way Back Machine still had it.

The main item I've heard people mention for staying with BlockIP was the logging of all connections (successful and failed).

With the introduction of Positive Authority Events in IBM MQ V9.4.3, that might be the last reason knocked on the head.

Cheers,
Morag

Hi Morag,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I was trying to open the link you provided but it was expired indeed.

You are very helpful, like always.

PS Say hi to Nick from me when you meet for a coffe

The link worked for me today - albeit 15 seconds to load.

I tired the link again just now and it still works - just very slow. I guess the Web Archive look up just takes a while. We should be thankful it is there at all I suppose.

Cheers,
Morag

I meant the original link was not working. The one from web archive works.

Sorry for not being clear.

Cheers
