				| Hi Guys,
I'm about to start upgrading from MQ 9.1 to MQ 9.3 in a multi-installation set up on Linux. Typically, we have 2 node hardware clusters running 2 service groups, for example dev and UAT, that can be failed between nodes independently. We have:

 1. default 9.1 MQ installation
 2. dev 9.1 installation
 3. uat 9.1 installation

This now needs to be upgraded to MQ 9.3 and I'm wondering if my proposed method is correct where I was intending to:

 1. Remove the default installation.
 2. Install a new default on MQ 9.3
 3. Install a multi instance at MQ 9.3 for dev
 4. Install a multi instance at MQ 9.3 for UAT
 5. Migrate queue managers over from 9.1 to 9.3, one-by-one to minimise risk
 6. Remove the 9.1 UAT install
 7. remove the 9.1 dev install.

I also have to remove all the MQ 9.1 installations as this will be constantly flagged as out-of-date software, come September, by my UNIX and compliance teams.

In summary, my main concern in moving to the new point release was whether it's 'OK' to remove the 9.1 default install before the other 9.1 installations. Does this look like the recommended method or I'd be interested to hear if others have done something different.

 Thanks, James.

				| Hi James,
Which of the V9.1 installations are the queue managers actually using?

Since you appear to be familiar with side-by-side MQ installations. How about the following order?

Install all required MQ 9.3 installations
Migrate queue managers over from 9.1 to 9.3, one-by-one to minimise risk - use the setmqm command to move them from current installation to new installation. Very small downtime this way too.
Once testing is complete and MQ 9.3 is how you want it, remove all MQ 9.1 installations.
 Cheers,
 Morag
