				Hi,

I'm trying to post my first message to the forum (it will end up being my second now, assuming this post succeeds) and I've run into a problem. The post is rejected with this message:

	| Code: |

You must have 1 posts before you can post URL's/Links.

 |

I've tried twice with the same results each time.

The part where this is a problem is the part where my post does not include any URLs or links. If I manage to post the message after posting this one, I'll reply with a link to the post, which I will leave unmodified from the version which was rejected. |

This is not a problem but a feature. A lot of spammers join & make a post with spurious, malicious or inappropriate links in them. So by insisting that only the 2nd & subsequent posts can have links we knock out the bots and the script kiddies.

It may sound stupid but it's been surprisingly effective. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

				| That makes sense and seems like a good idea. The trouble is that nothing in the post I linked to looks like a link, at least to me. I think the link detector has a false positive in it somewhere. |

I'll draw it to the attention of the powers that be. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

you are probably right. i looked over the logic and mapped it against your code , can't see what is triggering it. it is possible that combinations of several special characters in succession is being treated like ' it smells like a link' |
