The same as the use of any other profile in the OS.
Now if you could be a little more specific and answer the question of my esteemed colleague about the context, the answer could be a little bit less generic...

I did not see this term in any manual....I am just a beginner to MQ, so I thought of knowing abt MQ profiles first.. |

Dude: why do you believe there is such a thing as an mq profile? Did someone tell you about an mq profile? Did you invent the term mq profile? Is this a game?
Until you give us a clue as to what mq profile has to do with WebSphere MQ, we will not be able to help you.
