So they should build a VB6 app, using the sample code for reference, which will work once they've coded it right.
So would your plan to wrap the MQI in another DLL and supply that. Be sure it exposes everything they might need.
If your timelines are that tight IMHO .NET is going to cause more problems than it solves & should be a medium term aspiration. Knowing that VB6 is going out of support they will of course have a plan to migrate off it. No, really, they will. Honest. |
There's nothing wrong with writing stuff in VB6. The only issues here appear to be a) the IBM supplied get sample doesn't appear to have a valid project b) VB6 people should move towards .NET
There's nothing wrong with the code in the sample, and if they're a VB6 shop they'll have any number of their own. .NET might be a direction, but it's not an imperative.

The only problem I see here is the necessity to attempt to discredit or belittle other people and vendors.
I refer to the comments around "non A Grade" vendors. I'm appalled that people feel it necessary to do this while our vendors are all trying their level best to deliver and in an area where they have had limited exposure as the other organisations they deal with have not had MQ integration requirements.
For the benefit of others on this formum, the issue was due to operating system differences, namely Windows 2000 verses Server 2003.
I would like to extend my apologies to our vendor, whom I regard as A Grade.
I suggest that people beware of what the say online! |
