We are simulating the production environment in this poor machine so if it works there we won´t have problems in a better one.

And when (not if) it has trouble, what will this tell you? That the machine is underpowered or there's a an actual problem with your production set-up?

A Hub QM can easily have dozens if not hundreds of SNDR and RCVR channels.
How ashamed are you of the RAM? Like 512MB ashamed?
Or 256MB or less ashamed?
Shutdown all non essential services besides MQ and reboot. Then try again. Each running channel takes x bytes of memory. The exact amount is spelled out in the performance support packs. Odds are you just ran out of gas.
I agree with the others you aren't really proving anything. Well, you are proving you need a bigger machine! _________________ Peter Potkay

I did it.
69 sender channels are running so as the 69 receivers in a 1gb machine.
All I had to do was to change a kernel memory key in the registry.
Now we can do the same thing in production. This was an homologation process. I said we would run the prod environment in this machine but I meant to see if that would work in production... Ok.. this is confusing.
I did it! |

And I've just completely derailed a really stupid request by claiming the design process needed to be subjected to 3rd Normal Homologation. The request's been put on hold, pending a scoping & resourcing exercise. Should keep them quiet for weeks!

Standard SOP at every site I'm on; a terrified client is a compliant client. I actually have no idea what it is (apart from a really good word I must look up at some point) but neither did anyone else; what I call The Emperor's New Clothes principle. So the request disintegrated into the planning process & by the time it comes back I'll have convinced the delivery manager we don't want to deliver it.
Thus the client is saved from themselves.

I had doubts in how to put the word I wanted in english... so I looked in the dictionary and I found this. But it´s not different from portuguese, which is 'homologação' and here we use this word all the time. |

It's a fine word.
It's just more sesquipedalian than most English speakers use normally. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yeah, and out of the ordinary too. Please note I wasn't complaining earlier. I love it when I come across a word I've never heard before. Broadens the horizons and all that.

There's nothing better than a new word that's actually a word, rather than a made up sales, marketing or management term.

For those plain americans who do not deal with sesquipedalian words:
A process that has passed homologation for a specific norm (ISO9000, SOX etc) is said to be norm approved...
Sorry Europeans I know that homologation is an everyday business word for you...

Bad news...
Sender Channels are going inactive in queue manager A.
Sender channels in queue manager b are fine. (qms a and b connect to each other and they´re in the same machine)
Cpu and memory usage are fine.
We have configured the same queue managers and channels in another machine and the channels are all running.
Disconnect interval: 0
What could possibly be going on in my machine?
Thankss |
