It's good that you got the basic training.

And it's good that you're reading the documentation before trying to upgrade.

And it's good that you're asking questions about the parts that you don't know and understand...

Some of it is history that you won't know because you didn't live through it, like a lot of us did.

Most of the SupportPacs that document is talking about will not be installed in most places. Some of them would have been obsolete/withdrawn even when version 5.3 came out.

You shouldn't have to worry about that at all.

The important thing to know, though, is that every SupportPac is different, and has different installation mechanisms (and therefore uninstallation mechanisms). This also means that there isn't a standard way to install them, nor any way of finding out what is or is not installed.

So DOCUMENT everything you do, ESPECIALLY installation of SupportPacs. Don't leave the next person in your same situation.
