Yes, but how will you know until you are already there? (and IBM knows that... )

I also agree with the comments that this appeared to be a poster child for IBM's SOA push. I spent 30 years with IBM and heard the same words, different 'next best architecture' several times before. Wouldn't it be nice if this were finally for real... but then, if it were, where would all the consultants be?
You mean 'next best moneymaker for them' .

There is the 'old' T&M Conference in Vienna in November, I am still in doubt about going there, but it will be interesting to see if there is a big difference...
as far as Impact 2008 goes... Viva Las Vegas

You can't blame IBM for trying to sell, what if they never tried to sell CICS or MQ for that matter...

what's different about SOA IMHO is the focus the business rather then technology,
now whether it will be the success we all hope for is to be seen,
but what IBM is making sure is that SOA without Business involved and true governance your SOA is just a bunch of webservices and will fail...

that's the kind of talk I haven't heard in the past 20 years from any software vendor...

Perhaps.... If they actually came out and said that, then I agree. However, if this is only your interpretation of their actions, you may be giving them too much credit. It may be that they are just concentrating more on profit than on technology. That is the norm these days when you turn everything over to the accountants.

they did and not only at the conference.

now can we all sit back and relax? NO , it's still a lot of hard work and a lot of technology to make it work, but without the above "quote" no amount of work we do on the technology side will make it work...

I am brainwashed in Florida? I don't know, but certainly got inspired...

Some sessions were OK - others were cancelled real good ( appeared so ) sessions were always in conflict with other MQ technical. From my platform perspective the Tandem is on of those step children who gets forgotten until we scream. About 3-4 of my enrolled sessions were cancelled.

Many session did not apply and in some it was clearly communicated the NSK was not in the session scope. Could have maybe attended a better session but rooms were over-flowing in some instances.

A couple of presenters knew little about the presentation materials, no complaint I been there done that when I worked for BIG BLUE but, questions were asked deferred to e-mail and maybe a reply. It was a marketing event clear and simple they probably made a few $$ along the way but hety that's what they are in business for. SOA not really new just a pretty wrapper with new buz words

IBM you guys need to stop trying to mix marketing to execs and giving technical session. Marketers remember the CTSC skills! You guys need to revisit that!

Off my soap box got a big memory leak in the MQ V5.3 in the command server to worry about! Chiao!

Has anyone heard if they will be posting the presentations any time soon? There are a handfull on their site but very few. I remember seeing a phone number on their site to call for conference questions in the past, but for the life of me, I can't find it now.

You might be better off to find someone who attended the conference and borrow the CD, although these are often incomplete too. If you wait for a complete set to be online, you will probably never have it.

I did attend the conference. I didn't see a CD in my package like in the past. Did everyone else receive one?

IBM confidential sessions are never on the CD or released publicly - as far as I know.

Nor are sessions that were completed, for example, the night before they were given...

At past TM conferences, a copy of each Power point presentation was on a CD that was in the packet you received at enrollment. In addition, a printed copy was also available when you attended the session. They also did an audio recording that was available for purchase afterwards. This year none of above was available. This year they are putting them on the conference website. Unfortuneately, very few are there.

Well, I'd say give it a couple of weeks... if there's a particular session you need sooner, you can always contact the presenter.
