Only for v5.3. Listeners became queue manager objects in v6 and and maintained via runmqsc. |
but it still works for version 6. Addionally it is possible, to define a specific IP address:
runmqlsr -t TCP -p 1420 QMGR1 -i <my_address> |
ok it should be rephrased as "with V6 listeners can be queue manager managed objects and maintained via runmqsc"
then again you can still live in a cave... but do you? _________________ Michael

From the MQ admin's point of view I agree, but for already running systems it is good to know, that you can migrate from 5.3 to version 6, without changing your start-up procedures.
And there is another thing you should keep in mind: When you run MQ in a HA environment (e. g. Veritas Cluster), it could make sense, to define the QMgr, the listener, trigger monitor and command server as separate ressources. Then when - let's say - the command server fails, this single HA ressource could be restarted.
BUT, if you start the command server via the new QMgr attribute SCMDSERV, then the command server would become a part of the ressource QMgr. The cluster manager then would restart the ressource QMgr - and maybe connected applications such as Message Broker too!
I would favour a warm and dry cave over of a house with a missing roof . _________________ Regards
