				| Upgraded Solaris MQ Server 5.2 with 64bit Client libs in /opt/mqm/lib64 to Solaris MQ Server 5.3. I tried to install withdrawn MACR supportpac(64-bit client libs for use with 5.3) and install failed. I have all the pre-reqs, but no indication as to why it is failing. Has anyone installed the 64-bit libs for 5.3 on solaris? |

Have you tried moving to 6.0 RP 1? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

My teammate successfully installed the 64-bit libraries from MACR on MQ v5.3 (Solaris 9). But I don't know why it worked, or how. He has moved on to another company, but perhaps he will reply to your post here, too.

In preparation for a possible new installation, I was recently researching this very topic. I was confused, honestly. Why is there no SupportPac (64-bit libraries) specifically for v5.3? I thought maybe there is something built-in for 5.3, but I read Quick Beginnings and Release Notes with no success.

I am very interested in your situation, and in any resolution you find. I am fearful if I have to do a new installation of the 5.3 client, I will have trouble.

Yes, we are working on a v6.0 upgrade path, but we are not there yet!

If you are doing a new install, why not go for a 6.0 client? It can connect to your QMs, even if they are still at 5.3. _________________ Peter Potkay

				| We had installed the support pack without any problems on Solaris. It will be helpful if you can post the error message you are seeing. |

				Peter,

It would seem sensible to just go to the v6.0 client. But in this particular case. it is a move of a production function to a new piece of hardware. So I would be putting a 6.0 client into production without it having gone through the development environment.

Yes, yes, I am trying to get v6.0 into development. But the unix admins will not give me root access and they are "too busy" to get my configurations and installations complete. I am actually about to escalate the whole thing to management.

I am so disgusted that I have been dreaming of a Windows world, as Windows server administrators have always been willing to give me full administrative rights....

Since I was complaining yesterday about our unix team, I feel compelled to write and tell you that the team lead approached me this morning and asked "what do we have pending for you right now?"

Perhaps I was sending psychic messages. |
