				hi,

I have a MQ Server (HP) running MQ v6. I find sometime there are a lot

of amqrmppa processes running on that server and make the QMGR hang,

is it a MQ loop or any fix can solve, what is the root cause of it and how to

solve this problem

amqrmppa is the channel pooling process. Each channel with MCATYPE set to THREAD will run as a thread of the amqrmppa process. There is a limit to the maximum number of threads that can run within an amqrmppa process. If the limit is exceeded then a new amqrmppa process will be spawned. I think for HP Unix, the limit is 30 where as for other platforms its 64 threads per process. So too many amqrmppa processes means too many channels running.

So to start off your investigation , do a dis chs(*) and find out why this many channels are running |

				Hi

Please check the Kernel Parameters too. it will give you more idea.

Too many process, which cross the max limit will cause queue manager to hang.

Usually this is caused by (threaded, or java, or shared hconn) client applications connecting and failing to disconnect so I'd start any research there.

Its certainly possible to prevent this from occurring, but that would cause other failures (eg valid channels failing to launch) and it would be more sensible to identify the cause! |
