				| Is it possible to install MQ V6 on a 32 bit AIX/HP-UX/Solaris? The documents say that MQ V6 requires a 64 bit hardware on AIX/HP-UX/Solaris. But, I have someone telling me that we can install MQ V6 on a 32 bit AIX/HP-UX/Solaris with some Kernel parameter settings. I am not sure if that's doable.

Please let me know if anyone has done a successful install of MQ V6 on a 32 bit AIX/HP-UX/Solaris.

 Regards.

				| I have seen posts of screenshots of queuemanagers running in 32-bit mode on AIX, but the hardware needs to be 64-bit

tried to install MQ V6 on my 32-bit test hardware with AIX 5.3 and blew away the installation

(back up and running with MQ V5.3 again ...

If you could direct me to some links, that would help as well. I have been searching in vain.

				| For the Unix platforms, the OS must be capable of running 64-bit progams. So for all of them, that means you require 64-bit hardware.
On most Unixes that also means that the kernel has to be 64-bit, but AIX is slightly different (and better!) in that the kernel does not need to be 64-bit. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit AIX kernels are capable of running 64-bit application programs.

 | sorry to put you on the wrong foot, it blew away my AIX...
setting the kernel of AIX 5.3 to 64-bit on 32-bit hardware is not healthy...
