				Hello,

 I am a newbie to the MQ community.

 We have installed MQ Client (5.3) on a HP-UX machine on a cluster. This communicates to a server on Windows 2000 Adv. Server over a WAN, separated by a firewall. During the operations, we noticed the following error quite frequently :

============================================

AMQ9209: Connection to host '172.16.2.69' closed.

EXPLANATION:

An error occurred receiving data from '172.16.2.69' over TCP/IP. The

connection to the remote host has unexpectedly terminated.

ACTION:

Tell the systems administrator.

=============================================

The IP mentioned is the physical IP of the Unix server ,not cluster IP (does that matter?)

The same setup works perfectly when we use a client on a stand-alone HP-UX machine and server on Windows in the same LAN.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

				Hi,

I had seen this post, but I am told that there are no port scanners running.

Possibly. Some high-availability cluster solutions get very upset if you try and access the underlying boxes directly. May I ask why it's the physical IP? Doesn't this eliminate the benefit of clustering the server in the event of failure? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

				I agree to your point that it has to be the virtual(cluster) IP . I have no idea as how I can specify the IP address to be used by the MQ Client from HP-UX.

Any help will be appreciated.

I'd investigate the LOCALADDR parameter. Or speak to the guy who administers the clustering software. IMHO it should be unnecessary for you to make changes to your functioning set-up to accomodate the cluster (though that is a bit utopian in outlook, but a man can dream!)

There's also a support pac on the IBM web site that gives a lot of details about running MQ in conjunction with a high-availability solution. This could contain some useful pointers.
