We have 3 QMnagers in a cluster QM1 QM2 QM3. They all define a Cluster Queue "REDQ".

If a client connects ( svrconn) to one of the queue managers ( lets say QM1), and opens/puts to queue "REDQ" What behaviour am I going to get ???

(aa) I will load balance to all "REDQ"s

(bb) I connected to QM1 therefore I will always put messages to "REDQ" on QM1 (Default loadblancing algorith)

(cc) some other behavior ......

What is (cc) if behavior not (aa) or (bb) ??

Thanks in advance ..........

				It depends.....

If you're not using a workload balancing exit, and the Qlocal on QM1 is not PUTDIS you will get behaviour (bb).

If you're using some workload exit, then it all will depend on how the exit will rule (like a king).

If you're using an QALIAS with cluster attr. definition to point to the real Qlocal, then you might set PUTDIS on the Qlocal on QM1, and then the default routing algorithm will route between QM2 and QM3.

I hope this might help you.

				Thanks for the reply .

Sorry for my ignorance ... but what is putdis ? Is it put disabled ?

I only found reference to putdis as a DD in a csqutil job.

My particular environment is distributed rather than 390.

				Yes, you're right it's PUT(DISABLED),

There are no differnce if Distributed or Z/OS version of MQSeries on this topic.
