				Hello,

I am trying to access Oracle DB using WMQI 2.1, broker running on mainframes.

Did any one accessed using this kind of set-up?

I am thinking we need to have a ODBC file where we specify dbserver and db name.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I am using the oracle db as user data, which is on remote unix box and trying to access from wmqi 2.1, broker running on mainframes.

Can't I do it? _________________ CHF |

The documentation clearly states that it is not supported. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

				Jeff,

If you see this link

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wbihelp/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/ah10030_.htm

it says "Database support on z/OS is DB2 only" and

"If you choose to use a remote database, you must configure the ODBC connection to the database correctly. Refer to the documentation for the database product that you are using for further information."

And as I said the Oracle db is residing on Solaris, broker on Z/os.

So, Can I configure ODBC on Zos for a remote Oracle db on Solaris so that broker on Zos connects to Oracle db? _________________ CHF |

I don't think so, no.

I don't think there are WMQI on z/OS supported ODBC drivers for Oracle.

It says "DB2 Only" and it means it.

But you can always try it and see what happens yourself! I can't - I don't do mainframe and I don't do Oracle. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
