The hypothesis is that if the sender channel has been switched to the recovery site IP and the remote application is using it to send messages to the local queue the receiver channel will have the local queue open for output. I'm not trying to find out if the DNS switch has occurred. I'm trying to find out if the remote user is now using the sender channel to put messages to the local queue.
I'm still going with monitoring.
This should tell you wether the sender channel is retrying or inactive or running, tell you the date and time of the last message through the channel and tell you whether the receiving channel is running and whether messages have passed through the queue...(#gets,#puts, curdepth etc...)
