To be clear, you need to
*) set an MCA on a channel
*) set MQ authorities for that user
*) enable and configure SSL for that channel
*) distribute certs to connect to the channel appropriately and securely

To enable and configure SSL, there is a Support Pack MO04 that is very handy.
