Cool....can you send me the source code for QFLEX then please?

Or does this only apply to other peoples code? Surely not because that would be like having dual standards wouldn't it?

I have posted fractions of Qflex code to this site and via email to those who needed it.

Bottom line is this. If someone has a question however internal or useless that question is, that person has the right to ask that question and tell him "you dont need to know this," is unfair. I think we all agree on that.

Well I can sort of see what you are saying but the problem is that once it gets documented then it tends to get hard to remove at a later date because (often despite sage advice) some people will build a mission critical system around it, or believe they have built the 'ideal' automated use for it.

Maybe it could be explained that it is 'not for safe general use', but litigation is sure to be lurking in the shadows somewhere if/when it goes to hell in a hand cart.

I could not agree more that outcome is possible. However we cannot assume this kind of professional inferiority or intentions by default.

This whole matter is very close to my heart in "other" professional life. If you want to find out more, search openbsd misc list for adaptec or just about every posting from theo de raadt, founder and manager of openbsd and openssh projects.

When u run a blob on your machine, you obviously give up a lot freedoms which is fine but last time I checked asking questions was still ok

Well I'm sorry if I've offended you, or have gone against the spirit of this most excellent forum.

My point was that the knowledge is not useless, but potentally dangerous. If you "know" what the parameter does, you will then use it to either fix a problem or improve your system. The odds are that this will at best have some side effects, at worst destroy your queue manager (and remember the poster has already tried terminiating the process in production) but more importantly will lead to a situation where your configuration is potentially unsupported.

Despite that, I like to think that I've offered what information I have on the process and it's configuration to enable to poster to evaluate the situation and make an informed decision. I agree I've allowed my opinion to colour my posts (possibly wrongly) but I believe that our general experience with the product is as important as our specific knowledge.

I also see a distinction between a propretory product designed and built to be a white box supported by the ventor with specific control and command interfaces, and open source products within the general space. I also believe a discussion on which is the better method is way beyond the scope of this post!

Bottom line summary - sorry if I bothered / offended you or anyone else
