Wow... 4 years and 100,000 posts later the site is still here!
Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible by answering people's questions (because I certainly don't have the time nor the knowledge to help the MQ world all alone!) and making this site a pleasure to run. _________________ Brandon Duncan

It seems to me that "kudos" should go to people like Brian and PeterP who have been making contributions since the beginning.
So, a question.... who are the 10 "oldest" still active contributors (oldest == by joined date).... _________________ -wayne |

Well, I'm number 53 in joining order but maybe in terms of still (semi-)active posters stll in the first ten....
Speaking of ten, it is 10 years ago to the day I started system testing this strange product call MQSeries at a little known place called Hurlsey... Monday, 30th July 1995....
I had just finished working on an application called GIS (Geographic Information Systems) on SunOS and IBM were desperate for someone who could test out MQ on NCR Global Information Systems (GIS) - the TLAs matched and I got the job! Never looked back |

So was that MQ V2 (aka Mayflower) or "ezBridge Transact on GIS for IBM MQSeries" release 3? _________________ -wayne |

You didn't do any CICS support then I take it? Hursley has been part of my vocabulary for 25 years (dang can it really be that long ago ) |

MQ V2 - but only for HP-UX and AIX, it was thought SunOS Solaris wasn't big enough NCR (AT&T) paid IBM to port MQ onto their box, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered
And as for CICS, they kept them locked up on the other side of the site, in the secure wing I believe

All,
Well, I would like to think that I am still an active poster (even though I am now a vendor). I'm # 23. It seems like a life time ago (I was a consultant for Candle flying to JPMorgan Chase in NYC when I joined.)
Humm, speaking of the beginning of MQ, something always seems to get lost. In the early 90's, I worked for the Royal Bank of Canada and one of the projects in our group was a homegrown application called GDM (General Delivery Mechanism). It moved messages between the mainframe and OS/2 (VTAM based), and we were designing version 2 of it when it caught IBM's eye.
IBM and Royal Bank created a join development partnership and a senior member (Dominique Evans) of our team went to Hurlsey for 6-months. If I remember correctly, it was late 1993. After 6-months, he returned to the Royal Bank and the partnership was cancelled and IBM purchased all rights to the work.
Later in 1994, IBM came back to the bank with MQ v1 for MVS (before z/OS before OS/390 ) and asked if we were interested in using it. Of course, I have been playing with it ever since.
Just my 2 cents.
Regards,
