				Hi,

- we have a sun solaris 8 box

- the /opt/mqm has been redirected to another place:

in /opt dty we have the link: mqm->/exploit/mqm

so /opt/mqm goes to /exploit/mqm

- we install (via pkgadd) the ssl package 'gsk6bas' correctly in /exploit/mqm

- when executing pkgadd for package 'mqm' we get the message:

<

## Checking for conflicts with packages already installed.

The following files are already installed on the system and are being

used by another package:

* /opt/mqm

* - conflict with a file which does not belong to any package.

Do you want to install these conflicting files [y,n,?,q]

and if we anwswer "yes" the install takes place but:

+ in the /opt/mqm dty

+ and within /opt the link 'mqm->/exploit/mqm' desappears !!

and at the end of installation we get the message:

<

/var/sadm/pkg/mqm/install/postinstall: /opt/mqm/ssl: does not exist

pkgadd: ERROR: postinstall script did not complete successfully

>

what is happening !! - some help will be very appreciated

thanks

				Did you create the link with "ln -s"? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

gsk6bas should install into /opt/ibm/gsk6

The directory /opt/mqm is defined in the mqm package, when pkgadd finds a file of this name ( your symlink ) already on the system it prompts you to decide whether to keep the existing file or use the one from the package, by replying 'y' you are saying use the one in the package, so the symlink is removed and replaced by a real directory.

If you want the product to follow the symlink you need to reply 'n' to the conflicting files prompt and then 'y' to the

Do you want to continue with the installation of <mqm> [y,n,?]

which will follow it. _________________ Philip Morten
