Hi,
Does Anybody has install and crtmqm successfully MQ 5.3
for RedHat Linux 9.0? I am getting error on crtmqm as AMQ8101 websphere MQ error (893) has occured. How does it get around
or IBM has fixes already?

WMQ does not run in an NPTL environment. It is only supported
under LinuxThreads. NPTL is the default for RH9, so WMQ
will not work. If you set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL, then it "might"
work, but this has not yet been fully tested and is therefore
not a supported configuration.

I had the same exact problem just recently. The level of the Red Hat operating system (9) is not so much an issue as is the level of the kernel you are using. I installed MQ 5.3 CSD04 on a RH 2.4.20-8 kernel and experienced a multitude of issues. Exporting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 appeared to be the magic dust that fixed everything, but I was still unable to create any queue managers (crtmqm with 893 error resulted). Also, when running crtmqm as "mqm", the process hung in an infinite loop. I worked with IBM on the issue and they just recently provided the following fix:

IY45325.5172.LINUX.P530.04.tar.z

Which can be obtained at:
testcase.boulder.ibm.com
/ts/fromibm/mqseries/
as "anonymous"

After applying this, things are working well "now" (keep in mind I've done limited testing). The LD_ASSUME_KERNEL is no longer required either. IBM plans to roll this fix into CSD05 or greater if you want to wait for that.

I have been trying to install MQ 5.3 on a RH 9.0 system. I am running into a problem where the ptf U487853 RPM just hangs and never completes.

Anyone else run into this ?

This is supposed to fix the crtmqm problem on RH 9.0

No problem on the installation. However, this new CSD05 completely broke my existing/running MQ environment. Had to revert back to CSD04.
