I was reading this discussion and wonder what's the difference is between
IIB Standard Edition with multiple Integration nodes running one Integration Server each
and
IIB Advanced Edition with multiple Integration Servers
In both cases every Integration Server is a separate OS process. Ok, the Integration Nodes are consuming resources on top when having multiple ones. Every Integration Node needs to be maintained. Anything else? |

Every Integration Node needs a queue manager.
Or whichever one is the Broker, not the EG. |

| Yes. So far maintenance of multiple Qmgrs and INodes and resource overhead. Are there any licensing restrictions further? |

License questions have to be answered by IBM.
But, yes, AFAIK, there's nothing that says you can't create more than one Broker on a single server, regardless of how many EGs each of those brokers is licensed to run or how many flows each EG is licensed to run. |

The original post is older one but brings back the question... about the limitation(s) of having one EG or the Message Broker/IIB Standard Edition.
Lately I raised a PMR with IBM to understand their point of view about the limitation of having one EG and when one should decide to move on and have new license to configure more EGs.
As per IBM, it totally depends on the configuration / resources of the environment (not broker) and if ulimit is set to unlimited then eventually the resource overheads will catch up with you. Because every message flow (+additional instances) uses a thread of its own.
And prediction is difficult in such cases.
