Our client, a leading multinational, is seeking a Senior IT Operating System Consultant with the option to Telecommute.
Position Responsibilities:
Evaluates system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Analyze all aspects of the existing infrastructure and recommends modifications that will enhance system reliability, availability, serviceability and scalability.
Work with teammates, clients and other teams to identify and address systems problems.
Evaluate new developments and recommend infrastructure modifications.
Provide in depth consultation to application teams on a variety of different applications.
Assist in defining standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics.
Participates in the development of business strategy.
Develops and manages business plans to achieve objectives.
Leads large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives.
Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business.
Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
Essential Criteria:
A minimum of 1 years’ experience with MidVision RapidDeploy
A minimum of 2 years’ experience with WebSphere Application Server for Network Deployments
IBM HTTP Server OR Apache configuration and tuning experience
A minimum of 2 years’ UNIX administration experience (AIX or Linux)
Shell Scripting experience
Scripting and automation experience (jacl or jython)
Experience delivering cloud-based solutions / PaaS
Proven expertise in managing Proof-Of-Concepts and solution design
Competencies:
Understanding of configuration management and ability to drive implementation
Comprehensive understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure
Be able to collect business and technical requirements and translate them into a solution
Understanding of IT Service Management
Project management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently or with a small team to achieve a goal on a tight timeline
Must be detail oriented but deliver the big picture
Ability to multitask and work on several projects at once and execute with efficiency
Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to colleagues, management, and non-technical audience
Be influential in business case presentations to senior leadership
Write clear and concise documentation
Desirable Criteria:
Integration with CA Siteminder
JBOSS implementation
Java Development
PERL Scripting
Performance tuning (Java/Middleware/UNIX)
