				| Does anyone know the exact date when the MQ 7.5 Fix Pack release date is. The IBM website mentions 1st Q 2013, but no specific date. Reason is that we need to install a new MQ imminently and would prefer version MQ 7.5, but since its a new/recent version it would only be considered with the fix-pack. Otherwise we would have to go with MQ 7.1.0.2, which is a shame.
Thanks, in advance for any help and suggestions.

It's probable that anyone here who knows can't say on a public forum.

I'd consult your IBM Account Manager.

				| Once anyone knows whose opinion you can trust, they will post it on the IBM site. Should be less than 30 days as Q1 2013 ends soon.
You may want to review exactly what features you get in 7.5 compared to 7.1 - its a relatively small list.

 Check out this redbook:

	| While there is some new function in V7.5, this release is primarily a packaging change, with several previously separate products now being part of a common installation and maintenance mechanism.

I'm thinking about the same thing for some new servers we are about to stand up - do we go with 7.1.0.2, or 7.5.0.1, when 7.5.0.1 finally comes out? The End of Support date for MQ 7.5 may be be 6 months later than 7.1, so that's a minor consideration. But after reviewing Chapter 5, 16, 17 and 18 in this Redbook you may come to the conlcusion that WMQ 7.1 will be just fine and its not worth waiting for Fix Pack 1 for 7.5.0.

				| It's more than just a packaging change.
It's a change in official release date, so it's a change in official retirement date.

One can also assume that 7.5.0 includes all APARS that were fixed in 7.1 as of the date that 7.5.0 was packaged.

				| The minimum End of Life date will be later for 7.5 compared to 7.1.
But its quite possible, I'm guessing, that the EOL for MQ 7.1 can be earlier, later or the same as 7.5, as long as the minimum for each was met according to IBM's lifecycle rules.

Possible is not the same as likely.

I consider it likely that 7.1 will have a significantly earlier EOL than 7.5

				| Thanks for all the replies. Another major benefit we noticed on one of the IBM websites for MQ v7.5 over MQ v7.1was;

Performance Points of MQ v7.5 vs. MQ v7.1

 Message throughput increase
40% on AIX, 80% on Linux, 100% on Windows for persistent messages
30% on AIX, and between 40-100% on Linux for non-persistent messages (2KB)

 Which are quite significant increases.
