				| I am a load tester and have been tasked with finding a way to load test an environment with a MQ server that has no access to a mainframe. In a nutshell, I need the Application to make MQ calls, and the MQ manager (instead of calling a mainframe) to call a simulated mainframe........ Does anyone know of an application that would simulate this to and from the MQ manager? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

				| How does a queue manager "call" a mainframe exactly? |

We can charitably assume the OP means a request / reply exchange over WMQ and previous performance testing duties have not involved WMQ to any great extent, leading to a loose use of terminology. Perhaps a SOAP over JMS web service call is what is meant, being a specific case of such an exchange and a plausible source of the errant term.

Of course, if the solution being tested involves a modified queue manager exit making RPC calls into mainframe code then that's a rather different matter. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Exactly. LoadRunner used to be good at this sort of thing. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I liked LoadRunner. Not used it personally or seen it used in ages, but I liked it. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

A WMB flow can easily act as a responder. Otherwise a simple application in any MQI language.

Probably even use the Q program (MA01) inside a small script.
