The same semaphore issue I did face couple of months ago when in one of the mq servers FDCs were getting generated and application teams were not able to connect to the queue manager on that server.
The main issue/cause of that problem was the DiskFailure or Memory System.. which was then being resolved by Storage Team.
When I did search on Google about this Issue, I found a link where it was mentioned that this problem might also occur if One Application is holding the MQ Object thread and another application is requesting to acquire the same object.. but this DeadLock scenario is being taken care of by MQ internally.

As I said, we do not have this problem any more, but I do not have a spot to pinpoint to you to do a particular thing. That is what I mentioned in my earlier post.
We upgraded our MQ to FP 7.0.1.1 and applied a few efixes
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC64121
and one more for amqrrmfa ( repository process)
That seems fixed the problem.
I am still curious whether you use linear logging or circular logging. Also, are you trying to create an image?
Good luck. share with us you how you resolved this prolem.

, not sure who the you is you are referring to ... me or the original topic poster.
But if me, I noted in my post that I am using circular logging. Also, I am/was not trying to create media images.

, what was deadlock scenario ... just locking a resource and another process waiting to access it is not a dead lock scenario ... having a process lock a resource and having the same process wait until it unlocks it, is a dead lock ... (or a wait chain effectively doing the same thing) .. is that what you say was happening ?
What was the resource(memory, semaphores,?) ... it happens very infrequently any scenario types that are likely to bring it on/make it happen ? _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

You should have said like "A set of processes is deadlocked if each process in the set is waiting for an event that only another process in the set can cause (including itself). "
Resource : Memory (secondary storage).
And Logging : was Circular not the Linear.

Your dead Lock definition ... kind of what I said is it not ? Tomatoes, ToMAtoes !
A comment on your salutation:

"The Government in the Nation controls the Media and Media controls the minds of the People.." |
What if Corporations control the Media (e.g. NewsCorp(head Rupert Murdoch) that owns 'Wall Street Journal, Fox 'News', etc.).
Then the Corporations control the minds of the people which controls the government (in titular democracies) ... And you effectively have the world run by Totalitarian Governments either Dictators, Oligarchies or Fascist (Corporate run) States.
Hard to find the truth tellers in that world ! Better read the book referenced in my salutation ...
This is a bit off the beaten path from 'Dead Locks' or is it ?? _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

Yes, thats off the beaten path from deadlocks and I would say that whether its Australia or States or united kingdom... I don't how Mr.Rupert had bought the 'Sunday Times' or 'The Daily Mirror' or anything else to sell the News but I know that out of 100% he might have not sold the Truth all the times.
Media is the way to commercialize a thing/news now a days. And selling & purchasing happens in this materialistic world everywhere.. whether its being done by someone or some government.

What truth are you guys talking about? If you believe in so called modern science in general and quantum phisics in specially, there is not reality as we think as such. What you see is an observer effect but not a reality. So what you see is not what exactly the other person is seeing. If you believe in metaphysics, they are saying this for centuries. There is only one source for everything for whom they call god. So, you can choose a truth which suits to us.
You may be inrterested if you are a truth seeker
Before turning to a spiritualist, he was a folks like us, worked with computer.
