				Hello!

I've a question. Is mandatory to install the MQ Link for R/3 in the same machine that SAP R/3 is installed?. Can I have a architecture like this:

* SAP R/3 on the MACHINE A

* MQ Link ofr R/3 on the MACHINE B

* Queue Manager on The MACHINE C

I read the "User's guide MQ Link ofr R/3", and some documentation from the IBM's Web and I've some doubts about it.

Can you help.

Thank. |

				I have always put it on the same machine as the R/3, but my understanding is that you can place it remotely. My preference is to have it with the R/3 so that it is making local calls and MQ is handling the store/forward between the machines.

I have used other adapters (iWay and NEON) and used them remotely. I was so-so on these adpaters and it is a bit pricey, but they do provide BAPI support. MQLink only supports IDOCs, but is good solid workhorse once in place.

Good Luck!      |

				We have R/3 Link installed on a separate server. We use that server as a hub to the remote systems 'connected' to SAP. You should be able to configure to the requirements you outlined in your post.

There are benefits to having R/3 on SAP server but cost of MQ is prohibitive at my firm. MQ licenses by capacity units (# of CPU) and our SAP installation is spread across 8 application servers (Sun E-Series).

IDOC's are used for inbound/outbound - generally. We also have Mercator ALE adapter and also allow SAP developers to push data out thru the file port to the 'hub' server. |

				Hi,

There can be various combinations of architectures. You may have to deside it based on your situations. We have this setup in 2 diffrent ways. One end the SAP, MQ,MQLink all are on one server. The other corres[pponding end we have SAP on one server and MQ,MQLink on one server.

So  both are working well.

Thanks

				I'd go with both MQ & MQ Link on the SAP Central instance.

Oh, & Link for R/3 always needs to be on a box with MQ installed.
