				Hi to all,

I am not really an MQ-speciallist even though I maintain a program that writes and reads MQ-Messages using native Java (no JMS)

My environment is a Windows PC with the needed Jar-Files and Solaris-Server with an installed MQ-Client, as far I know.

The Windows PC has no connection to the Solaris-System where the Q-Manager runs on. So I am always forced to produce my stuff on the PC and install it to the Solaris-Server where a MQ-Client runs on. In other words I 'd like to use my PC for testing sice there I have the IDE running.

Question: What exactly do I need for a direct connectivity between the PC and the MQ-Manager of the other Solaris-System?

Thanks in advance for real good hints

You may wish to consider THIS, or speak with your Solaris Admins and ask whether they could set you up a queue manager somewhere. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Or if you absolutely need to connect to the qmgr on solaris, you might want to consider an initialization procedure that reacts differently on whether the client start as a "bindings" client or as a tcp_ip client across the network.

Don't forget to make sure the mq etc client jar file is on your classpath on the pc.

Do I put you right that no other software than the particular jar-files are needed to connect to a MQ-Manager?

So its just a matter of TCP/IP-connection (firewalls, NATs) right? |

There is no such thing as 6.1 MQ Client. You can get 6.0 or 7.0. If you use that new Google thingie to look for "MQ + Client + Download" you'll be pleasantly surprised. _________________ Peter Potkay
