				Hello,

I try to start a QMGR on a backup server without reset channels on AIX. So on server A :

- I stopped channels receiver

- I saved the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ

- I stopped the QMGR

On server B, I created the same QMGR listened same port with same objects and :

- I restore messages in SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNCQ from server A

- I sent test messages to tests all channels.

All channels are in state retrying because the sequence number is wrong.

Did I forget something ?

Thanks for your help.[/list] |

Possibly you forgot to reset the sequence numbers on the channels?

Just a guess.

I'd also advise against copying the contents of any SYSTEM queue from one queue manager to another. Or indeed touching the SYSTEM queues. It only leads to problems. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I apologise for my loose terminolgy - when I said "you", I meant "somebody in your organisation".

If you can't access the servers, then you need to contact whoever is administering them. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I thought that by restoring the contents of the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.SYNQ to another QMGR, the sequence numbers were preserved.*

Indeed, we have more than 250 channels, it is difficult to request to our partners to make a reset on each of them channels sender. |

Really? News to me, but maybe it's another vindication of my signature. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

				| syncq on distributed platforms does not hold sequence numbers - at least, not since version 5.0-ish |
