The RCD node resets the parser to the value you specified on the RCD node.
This has nothing to do with the RFH.
You can change the values for the RFH by setting the OutputRoot.Properties... but at this time it seems to be ridiculous to do so as it will not take effect until serialization.

So for your problem with the XSLT you may want to do following:
Just before the XSLT node set an RCD node and reset to BLOB.

Don't know if this will do the trick for you but I surely hope it will help you find a way to the solution...
