I had already implemented code similar to what has been specified in http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7809

The only problem here is that if the original message contains any X'0A' they would also be converted to X'0D'.

Well, since x0A is a linefeed, and you seem to be dealing with a platform which always terminates lines with x0D0A, that sounds like a fairly unlikely situation. Why would a linefeed character appear on its own?

All the same, I don't blame you for being uncomfortable with the whole situation. Alternative solutions:
- make the originating application encode the entire text field in base64
- stop using XML as your message format.
- change the receiving application so that it does not care about the linefeed style

Or if it is still early days,

Make the Address into Address1, Street, City etc etc.....

This is the kind of tagged address structure that I have found in most Projects.
