You're probably right, in the end it's a matter of developement effort and in-house support over time - due to my unhappy past with maintaining in-house protocols and schemes, I usually prefer using anything off-the-shelf rather than developing myself; although technologically preferable, such solutions are rarely maintained properly in large organizations after several years in production.

Hm, I have not, but I will - Sounds like yet another super-generic overly-complex IBM standard, and i'm always up for one of those
