oops almost read that wrong... I thought you would get fired
If the level of service perceived is that high, we must be doing something right... or have way too much free time on our hands...
(not for long ... 1 hour and 15 minutes left until 3 gb is downloaded, let the weekend begin... ) _________________ Michael

Nahh. That was the intention of the other anonymous person, who submitted feedback to a former employer's website complaining about my "attitude". _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

boy, some people ARE messed up...
although we have never met, I would take you and your "attitude" with me into any "battle".
my employers website doesn't have a feedback button and even if it did... I happen to know the owner pretty well _________________ Michael

Yea, he PMed me too
As for the new breed of people, my personal theory is the decline of intelligence in the IT marked in general; it seems that once (1980s) every programmer had to be a hacker (see The Story of Mel, a Real Programmer) and the differentiation sysadmin/programmer had not been invented yet. But now, as the IT industry continues to grow, people's jobs (and minds) get narrower and narrower; in the days of ready-made .NET classes and plug-and-play devices, knowledge of the internals is looked down upon as a mere luxury rather than a true necessity.
Publicity made everyone think that being a programmer's easy, and that's what they expect; thus upon coming face-to-face with the complexities of the WMQ infrastructure, they retreat to the safety of asking someone else. |

I mean, don't get me wrong. They aren't a former employer because of this anonymous jerk. In fact, my employers were pleased and amused.
And, yes, yes, you work for yourself. How happy it must make you. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yeah it's all about drag 'n drop programming, SOA's and ESB's
in the past we could say: MQ will solve all your problems... etc etc
then found out it was not so easy...
now people say: SOA and ESB will solve all your problem's ... etc etc
guess what's next.... (how do you tune a non performing "cloud" ??? ) _________________ Michael

Don't even get me started on PMs. You wouldn't believe how many people PM me with a technical question, which they didn't even post to the site. Apparently they think there's a better chance of getting their question answered if they ask just one person instead of thousands. I'm good but not that good _________________ Brandon Duncan

now that you mention it... I believe you, I get these questions too...
I figured since I am a moderator on some of the forums, they just didn't realise they PMed me rather then posting a question to the forum....
now it makes sense to me, don't ask a silly question in public, just PM a person you think that should know the answer... _________________ Michael

Ah yes, the burdens of omnipotence...
I think someone, somewhere not long ago, had a few offers that may stop people from inappropriate PMing; He mentioned a faq, and a document of some sort... Was called hop-something or somewhat |

That's actually a good idea. The Search Button should be the same size and style as the New Topic button, and directly to the left of the New Topic button. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thank you all for taking the time to express your opinion. I must admit that I agree with you on most of your comments. As I have not been a regular visitor to mqseries.net, I had not realized the enormity of the problem. Thanks for setting me straight. And, sorry if I have offended anyone.
Best regards,
