In which case you should be following the IBM approved installation instructions so you end up with a supported configuration.

That's the reason why client is asking is there any way to take the backup of ma88
So in the event of a problem your client plans to use out of date and incompatable Java support files in a product which doesn't support them? Solid plan.
Even if by some means you could get v6 to install, you couldn't continue to use the ma88 files.
If your client is that paranoid, the proper course of action is to take a system level backup. If you then encounter problems you can roll back v6 to your current level along with the support pac in a consistent way.
Though the proper course of action there would be to trout the client until they fix whatever means it can't run on anything that's supported. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

if i replace java folder under /var/mqm with the different name instead of un-installing ma88
after replacing the java foldes MQv6 server installation will go smoothly with out any error?
NO - the checkinstall script in the WebSphere MQ V.6 package issues the command 'pkginfo mqjava'. if it gets a zero return code from that command then the package name 'mqjava' is installed on the system and installation of the WebSphere MQ package 'mqm' is not allowed to proceed.
The function provided for earlier releases of WebSphere MQ / MQSeries by the SupportPac MA88 is now incorporated in the WebSphere MQ product. This is explained in paragraph 2 of Chapter 1 of the Quick Beginnings for Solaris. You can find that manual here:http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/amqdac09.pdf _________________ Philip Morten
