I am running a 3rd party pachage which I am told only works with 5.1 client. We are all 5.2 now and MQ server is installed on the same machine.

My idea is to create a directory /opt/mqclient/bin etc, copy 5.1 client code there and put this directory at the front of $PATH (before /usr/bin).

Before I try it tomorrow does anyone see any reason why it would not work?

Chris,

I would try just running the package with the 5.2.

Down level application code 'should' work with a newer MQ. The problems usually arise the other way around.

Eddie,

Thanks for that. It does work despite being told that they had tested it and it didn't. So much for their MQ abilities!
