enable automatic log clean up IMGSCHED interval set to 120 but i understand that log clean up can happen at optimum time before or after that.

I've been asked that more than once in my life.

What leads you to expect that there would be any reporting of this activity?

It's a constant refrain, like an endless song. But I can keep from singing.

Keep calm and listen to Enya.

What commands did you issue? What else did you do?

alter qmgr IMGSCHED(AUTO) IMGRCOVO(NO) IMGINTVL(120)

i do see logs are getting updated to R... and S... extents but i was hoping to find some entry in the log that a record image happened at some specific time.

I'm confused. The title of the OP is 'automatic log clean up'.

Are you attempting to automatically archive log files no longer needed for restart? Something like that?

What version/release/modification of MQ are you running? Are you using linear logs? Or circular logs?

let me try explaining a bit better.

linear logging

we used to run record image via script periodically

since we migrated to MQ91, we enabled automatic record imaging.

MQ9102

i see it is working and log extents are getting marked as reusable with a R

All i am trying to find out is when qmgr does the automatic record image, it doesnt seem to write any logs stating that it ran a record image at that time.

is there a way to make it write some log or is there a way to tell when last record image was done.

when i did this manually i know when i run the record image but with this auto set up, i am not sure how to tell when it was run,

What are the other IMGxxxx attribute values?

IMGSCHED(AUTO)

IMGINTVL(120)

IMGLOGLN

IMGRCOVO

IMGRCOVQ

There are others, but a good ref on setting these values https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSFKSJ_9.0.0/com.ibm.mq.con.doc/q018500_.htm
