we are at zos 1.13 and mq 7.0. We received a mail from the storage group requesting to change all mq datasets with a new naming convention. I can copy datasets with adrdssu to new names but how should i change the details in bsds with new names ? I have a test system where i am allowed to test. There i have two qmgrs runnung under a qsg for test purposes. I can stop / start qmgr(s).
Thanks in advance

If it's a test system, delete the old files and recreate with the new names, amending the queue manager JCL as needed

Thanks. For the test this will be fine, but what will happen in prod? i must change the names in prod also sooner or later. What is the best practice for such a scenario?
1. copy the files in stc to new names
2. copy the active logs to new names
3. keep the archive names same fro the first run
4. use delete log from new bsds
5. add renamed logs to bsds
will this work? i need to be absolutely certain that these sequences do not make sc6.
thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.

Hello ,

I would check the full procedure written on your last post on the test enviroment before applying it to the production systems .
One suggestion in this type of operations involving the pagesets, may be using the csqutil function copypage to the new page datasets .
However, i have no doubt that adrdssu will work also well .

Hope it helps

Try it in test and see.
