Requirement:
Simple Business Date validation.
Check if Date from incoming batch file header is greater than or equal to 'some reference value'. if Yes update 'reference value' and continue processing else throw error.
'some reference value' - we dont have database, but can access file system or Q or global cache. Shared Variable is too less a life span.(Cant risk a flow restart!)
We are using WMB 8.0.0.2. What would be the best solution to store this single value.
rest of the flow is mostly coded in esql and developers are comfortable with that. Not sure if this can be deciding factor !!

Why not? Whats wrong with using the GlobalCache ? I've not found any drawbacks. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

How often do you see a flow restart and why would that ever happen?
How about in an HA environment and you fail the broker (+QM) over to another node?
How about another flow in the EG causes the EG to abend and restart?
Don't just dismiss that situation blindly. It can and does happen and you have to plan for it. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.
