IBM has just announced IBM Integration Bus V9, which is slated for release in later 2Q this year.
http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca&infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=877&letternum=ENUSZP13-0164

This is IBM’s strategic integration technology: a single product for all heterogeneous integration scenarios, complementing DataPower which continues to evolve as IBM’s integration gateway appliance.

For existing WebSphere Message Broker users it's a natural evolution; the product uses the existing WMB technology base and adds new features such as policy-based workload management, web statistics, BPM integration, business rules, service discovery and .NET Input.

It's also designed incorporate WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus use cases. The capabilities of WESB will be folded in to IBM Integration Bus over time, and conversion tools for initial use cases built in to IIB from day one. WESB technology remains in market, supported, meaning that WESB users can migrate to Integration Bus when ready.

We've got a large number of people from the (combined WESB+MB) development team at Impact next week talking about this, of course. I will be also happy to answer any questions here, as will other folks in the know I'm sure.

Does it mean that DataPower (XI50/52 in particular) is no longer considered an ESB product in its own right?

Interesting. Shame that we've JUST moved to 8.

Can you expand on the "Accelerate creation of integration services for business process management (BPM)" line?

The DP website can actually put it better than I can: http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/datapower/

Sure, this is IB as a connectivity layer for BPM Standard/Express. The nice thing here is it clearly delineates between the roles of the process designer and the integrator - process designer develops the business process, exchanges the toolkit snapshot with the integrator who implements the integration service. ...with iteration as necessary.

Very interesting - so IB (the Broker part) can import snapshots from BPM? Does that include connecting to Process Centre to get the snapshots?

Good question - to begin with, import/export of the TWX file will provide the handover point between the process designer and the integrator.

So much for the streak of not changing the product's name constantly....sigh. We had 3 version in a row for WMB

MQSI
WMQI
WB-IMB
WMB
IB?

Interesting...where's the 'Websphere' in the name?

Ha-ha

We call Broker the 'IB' to our customers. In this case, IB == Information Broker but at lease with this branding change we don't have to keep explaining that yes it is really WebSphere Message Broker underneath, with the emphasis on Message Broker because we get uninformed IT directors thinking it is WAS.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

'Thingy' catches it already...

Question, will there be any sessions or events at Impact 2013 regarding the IB?

Thank goodness IBM has finally seen sense with a unified ESB Offering and broker having "Bus" in the name will certainly help it be sold in the ESB space! Also the dropping of the WebSphere name is only positive in my eyes as unfortunately people tended to tie it more with WAS than the much loved WebSphere MQ

Yeah, lots and lots. You'll find that most of the sessions still have Message Broker in the title, because we weren't able to pre-announce the name in the public session list... but rest assured it's all IIB V9 content.

Two to look out for (both my speaking sessions coincidentally )
1465: What's New in V9 - Tues 10.15am and Thu 8.45am
1467: WESB+MB Integration (i.e. what's IBM's ESB strategy): Mon 2.30pm and Thu 1.00pm
