hello,
I am new to this section of the forum so please advise if I am posting this at the right spot. I downloaded all the WID software to my laptop from passport advantage site as advised by IBM and I extracted them all to one folder.
Ran the launchpad.exe and it gave me 3 options to install in the order below
1.WID 7.0
2.WAS
3.Test environment
I installed them all in that order . No errors anywhere. I opened WID and I cannot see anything under 'Servers' section in WID. I have seen that for others in WID , the Servers section has ' Websphere Process Server V7.0'.
I tried creating one manually but I see that the Launch business choreographer explorer option is disabled. Do you think my installation is bad? or is there something I need to start/stop. I have googled but nothing useful so far. ANy pointers will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

When you installed the Test environment, did you indicate that you wanted to create the Business Process Choreographer database? I am not positive, but I think there is a way to install the WPS without initializing BPC. Perhaps this is your problem _________________ John McDonald

In addition to what John said and to limit the area for problem research:
you should be able to start the underlying WPS Testenvironment and BPC Explorer without using WID. Once you have this running and you can see the BPC container applications running in the WAS console you can re-switch your focus on WID if necessary. |

Thanks folks.. I think in my case the problem was with installation. My test install was not proper so is why I couldn't see that option enabled. I unstalled and installed again and this time it worked fine.
But one wierd thing that I observed with my installation Vs my colleagues installation is that when they installed Test env , the install created a profile qwps for them automatically but for me though the install went fine with no errors, no profile was created automatically.
I wondered why but couldn't find a specific reason when i googled. |

Hi,
creating a profile during installation is an option that you can select during installation of WPS. Always carefully read and check the options in the installation dialog panels |
