Hi,

There is one thing that bugs me, offering a free download but NOT offering a free download. If I go to the trouble of filling out your contact detail form, then when I click the submit button I EXPECT to have an automatic download start or a link to click to download the file.

Seeing the message below is unacceptable (Note: I waited 20 minutes before writing this note!!! There was no email response from contact admin.):

I had an hour tonight to play with toys, but I guess it won’t be with your product.

Hi cturner,

It sounds absolutely crazy !!!! I wanna know do u really have such product or trying to market something still on the drawing board.

Common, this is not the way to go !!! . It sounds funny if you guys are gonna accept requests like this and process each request ..!! It seems you got a few guys doing this job in full time..

Anyway , as ROGER said this is not way to market stuff..

Let me see what kind of response i hear from contact admin.

Absolutely dissatisfied , as the very first impression in your case has gone worst !!

Thanks a lot for the initiative..

It's great to here such stuff..!!! Very Sorry for being a bit harsh at the first instant !!! I apologize and take my words back !!!!

I got a voice mail , and also an email response from contact admin regarding the Download request.. and instructions for the download, But unfortunately because of my hectic schedule y'day I couldn't download it ...

But today morning I got an email saying it's no longer available via Ftp and have to download straight from

http://www.contact admin.com/news/flash.html

So is the Ftp site valid only for one day..!! Any hard and fast rule like that !!! or is it any security/copyright policy...

Anyway .. I will certainly give it a try .today and see whether I can recommend this tool for our Bank's use . !!!

Just to let everyone know, contact admin did a very professional job of explaining the issue to me when I called asking why people weren't getting to download MQ Control Express. I got an immediate response from the person I talked to, and he explained that there were technical issues with the build of MQ Control Express they intended on releasing. contact admin also apologized for prematurely announcing the release. Later in the day I received an email from the director of R&D at contact admin, reiterating that they were working on a final release, and once it was finished the download would be immediate. Now it looks like everything has been fixed, and I hope everyone gives the product a try...

Certainly I am going to give it a try .. I will be downloading the product today and checking it up..!!!

Anyway the product is available for download and thats the ultimate..and
I wouldn't want to do any postmortems..

Well I hope others are more successful than I have been at downloading the tool. MS Explorer hung when I tried to access the FTP link last week and now times out trying to follow the new link.

Brandon, I don't know what the story line is with contact admin, but here is what happen to me (maybe it can help somebody).

About 20 hours after I posted the above note, I received an email from contact admin telling me where I could ftp the files from. Note: They provided a link to a ftp directory (not a file).

So when I clicked on the link, Internet Explorer gave me 2 different errors about not having permission to access the folder. So, I tried ftping from a command prompt to ftp.contact admin.com . I could logon in and "cd" to download/mqcx but when I did a "ls" to list the files, I got "Invalid PORT Command" (and then the session locks up - I mean really locked up. CTL-C would not break it).

So, I sent a reply to the original email (Arthur something), with the same tone as above stating my problems with downloading the file (I included a comment about testing server and firewalls - because many times I seen people only test web application over an intranet rather than truely over the internet).

About 1 hour later I got this sarcastic email from Arthur, saying that they had fully tested the server & firewall. He said that I should check my firewall setting because he was current downloading the file. Note: That particular PC, it was on a cable modem with no firewall (yes, yes bad boy!!) - so I don't think I am having a firewall issue.

Thinking maybe that they fixed it, I tried it again. Same results. So, I phoned a friend and they tried it with the same results.

As I was writing another reply to Arthur, a thought occurred to me. I turned on “passive” file transfers in WS-FTP and connected to ftp.contact admin.com . Bingo, it work. I was able to download the files on their ftp server.

So, I finished my email to Arthur (including what I found out) and sent it to him. I never heard back from him (although the next day I did get a bulk email from contact admin about the new http download method). It is too bad that they did not share this information.

Hi All,

When I tried the Ftp Link to download the MQ Control Express. I had the same problem and my IE hung..

I realised only after few attempts that I am behind a firewall in the office network and its rules doesn't allow accessing ftp download sites..

But the result was same when I tried using Broad Band Connection too.!!!

When I try the http link in the office network, The browser times out after trying to download for a very long time..

But I haven't tried the http download using Broadband, I will have to try it, but my hopes are too low , So contact admin Members !!! do you have any better way which we can download the product.

My initial attempts were from work and so I realised that it might be a firewall issue as far as the FTP download was concerned. But I tried the direct website link from home also and got the same timeout situation...stone dead. Maybe it is a Southern Hemisphere thing but, much as I appreciate contact admin's gesture, I am getting pretty tired of registering over and over again (10 or 11 times so far.) .....a pity also since it happened that a contact admin rep called on my boss today. Has anyone outside the USA successfully downloaded yet?!!!

The download doesn't seem to work in Europe either. Maybe it's got DES encryption thingies in it so it can't be exported

Hi RogerLacroix,

Just wanted to find out. What was the problem with the FTP, is that a problem on the contact admin's FTP site or IE.

We had several people download the files off FTP outside of contact admin without any problems.

I tried downloading from home, using Exceed FTP with PASV Mode checked and no problems.

I would like to find out so that we can avoid these issues in the future.

FTP site was a temporary distribution channel and was removed once the
web site download came online. FTP location is no longer available.

As I understand there are some issues downloading from the web site as well. We are working on the problem at this moment.

It should be resolved within a couple of hours.
